Most innovative Dutch SME announced

Concord Neonatal was named the Netherlands' most innovative SME company on Saturday 16 November in Rotterdam Ahoy thanks to their technology that helps stabilise newborn babies. During the 19th edition of the KVK Innovation Top 100, a total of five Dutch SMEs were awarded gold awards in different categories. The winners are: HackShield Future Cyber Heroes from Utrecht (labour market and society), FashionPower from Zundert (circular economy), Newton Energy Solutions from Delft (energy transition), SnackFuture from De Bilt (food, water, and infrastructure) and Concord Neonatal from Leiden (health and care).
Concord Neonatal aims to set a new standard in birth care and give newborns the best possible start. One in 10 babies has problems at birth, affecting more than 35,000 newborns a day worldwide. The Concord Birth Flow offers an innovative solution to stabilise or resuscitate newborns with the umbilical cord intact, close to the mother. The jury, chaired by innovator Ruud Koornstra, unanimously named this company as the most innovative in the Netherlands.
Gold innovations
The other gold winners are:
- HackShield: Provides an interactive learning environment for children to develop online safety skills through games and workshops;
- FashionPower: Produces sustainable clothing with recycled polyester, which can be recycled multiple times without loss of quality;
- SnackFuture: Supplies hybrid meat products, such as minced meat and burgers, with less than 50% meat and no artificial additives;
- Newton Energy Solutions: Develops the NEStore heat battery, which efficiently stores renewable energy and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90%.
Regional distribution of innovations
The province of Noord-Holland leads with 27 companies in the top 100, followed by Zuid-Holland with 23, and Utrecht with 13. The innovations were assessed on their impact for the industry and society, originality, availability, turnover achieved, and growth potential. There is no cash prize attached to the KVK Innovation Top 100.
