How did business develop in the third quarter of 2024?
Fewer starters and more stoppers
The number of starters fell in the third quarter of 2024. There were 7.8 per cent fewer new businesses registered compared to the same period last year. The number of starters has been falling for 5 quarters in a row. At the same time, more businesses stopped than a year earlier. The number of businesses ending rose by 15 per cent year-on-year. Nevertheless, 22,000 establishments were added. So, on balance, more businesses started than stopped in July, August, and September: 59,105 to 34,087. Want to know more? Trends over 10 years and per quarter
The KVK Trend Report provides insight into economic developments compared to the same quarter a year ago. But you will also find information on how the economy has developed over the past 10 years.
For example, the report contains figures on the number of branches of companies, or on the number of starters, stoppers, and bankruptcies. You will also find information on business sectors, provinces, legal forms, gender, and age of entrepreneurs. The development of the economic climate and staffing levels are also covered.
